Fiery Gizzard: Voices from the Wilderness

  • a book that takes place in your hometown
  • a book by an author you’ve never read before
  • a book you can finish in a day
  • a nonfiction book

My mother’s friend wrote this book, apparently as part of her requirements to get a Master’s Degree in something-or-other. It was a short read, right around 100 pages, and was definitely written for the purpose of getting a Master’s Degree. lol! It’s targeted toward a more educated audience – “educated” in regards to nature-type things. It was very informative, and kept my attention (even if my eyes unfocused a few times). It was pretty cool to see my parents’ names in print! She referenced several family members, and even gave a quick promo for Still Waters Mtn. Retreat. So that was fun. It did make me proud of my homeland, even with the references to racism, meth, moonshine, car stripping, etc. I kind of hate living in suburbia now, and want to go on a nice, long hike.
